Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
